Muscari latifolium

Muscari latifolium is a tried-and-true show stopper in the spring garden. Also known as Broad-Leaved Grape Hyacinth, each blossom resembles a cluster of grapes with the top sterile flowers displaying a clear sky blue, while the lower fertile flowers are a velvety deep purple. It's bi-color nature adds depth and interest to any planting.
A river of muscari in front of a bed of golden daffodils or red tulips makes the display twice as dramatic. Curving beds of these blue beauties are a mainstay of of many famous gardens throughout the world. You can easily do the same thing at home, as Grape Hyacinths are perfect for planting in containers, naturalizing throughout a lawn, or edging a perennial bed.
